Getting to Banff

We arrived in Banff on Wednesday evening in an RV. Andrew's parents helped us get here and we are thankful for their support! On the way we drove by the world's only corn palace, Mt. Rushmore, watched a beautiful sunset in Montana, and stopped by the Garmin office in Cochrane. Andrew got to meet some of the people he collaborates with for the first time in person. They were kind to give us a tour, show Andrew some of the projects they're working on, and calm our fears of getting eaten by a grizzly bear.

On our first night in Banff, we ate dinner at Melissa's Missteak, a suggestion from Anne, to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. We got to sample some local beer and against the waiter's suggestion, I had maple glazed salmon which was delicious, plus a snuck a bite of Andrew's steak. We'll get to eat like this on the Divide, right?

After a good night's sleep, we got a chance to spin the travel out of our legs. We rode some fun flowing trails and took in the mountain views of Banff. In the afternoon we made a side trip to Lake Louise. On the shuttle up to the lake, we got to see a sow grizzly and her cubs. Way cool, but I was glad I was in the bus!

As for this evening, we're at Banff Ave. Brewing Co. They have a stein special that's giving me an arm workout. All we have left is to top off batteries, lube chains, and pack up our food and water for the morning. We're feeling ready to ride and I'm pretty sure it's not just the beer talking.
